His efforts to record oral literature, particularly the 10 epics, have earned him recognition. These epics were written in a language that is now extinct and connected to Kinaray-a. The epics were taught to Caballero, who is also known as Nong Pedring, by his mother and his grandmother, Anggoy Omil, who would recite them as a lullaby to him and his brothers. After Anggoy and his mother passed away, he carried on the customs and shared the epics, also known as the Labaw Dunggon and Humadapnon epics, with researchers. In spite of his children's initial opposition, he promoted the practice of epic chanting and worked with the Bureau of Non Formal Education to educate people on how to read and write.
